I would like to know how you can find out where exactly your septic tank is located and if in fact I am on septic?
ReplyDeleteHow do I know when I need my septic pumped?
ReplyDeleteWhat is the typical length of usage for a septic tank, lateral field?
ReplyDeleteWhat is the difference between a septic system and an areobic system?
ReplyDeletefinding your tank: it can be located with a locator that is fished down the drain but that can be costly. Most septic pumpers are very good at finding the tank using a probe.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a septic system: You can call the city or district to see if sewer is in your area, or call the local DEQ to see if a septic is on file for your address.
Pumping your septic: Your septic should be pumped every 2 to 3 years regardless, it is good for maintenance and inspection.
Length of usage on a field: is about 30yrs. on average. If your system is older than that you have won out big on your system
The difference between septic and aerobic: Wow, this is the short version so let me know if you need more. A septic uses a trash tank and subabsorption lines to process your waste, not electric and no mandatory maintenance. An aerobic uses three tanks (trash, ATU, Pump tank) it seperates the solids, clafifies the effluent, sanatizes the clarified effluent and the pumps it out via sprinklers or subsurface drip lines, electrical and state required maintenance comes into play.

ReplyDeleteWhat is the difference between pool chlorine and chlorine for aerobics?
ReplyDeleteGreat question,
ReplyDeleteThe truth is alot. One is sodium chlorite and the other is calcium hypochlorite (the aerobic one). The pool chlorine is easy to identify it will say tri-chlor on it if so it is the wrong stuff. In pools you want it to dissolve slowly under pressure and submerged with a long lasting residual right. In an aerobic system it needs to dissolve with intermittent contact and no pressure, plus we spray this out in the yard so it needs to kill the bacteria and then disipate quickly.
